Three Fonts for the Linux-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Design-lords in their halls of white,
Nine for Mortal Macs doomed to die,
One for the Dark Future in its vision video
In the Land of Microsoft where the Shadows lie.
One @font-face rule for them, one font for that the grid will fit
One font to clearly show information and whilst on the move to display it
In the Land of Microsoft where the Shadows lie.

I agree entirely with the above statement, any actions or attitudes that people adopt when with drink come about from the uninhibiting factor of alcoholic consumption, they are releasing the suppressed anger and aggression that has been held in check by the constraints of suppression and nothing to to with the alcohol.

All excellent points. The headphones are noise cancelling and the voices are actors. There is apparently recorded background station noise so it feels real.

And a camera obscura is somewhat like a one way mirror in that you can observe people unaware, and even more invisible to passersby.

It's interesting that all the photos in the trailer video are "anonymised" - back views of people, out of focus or blurred, features covered by hair or left out of frame. This device has been used to set a mood, to replace being among a crowd of people you don't know. The photos are also monochrome, which now seems to stand for anonymity, or making the viewer a remote observer - a meaning that has changed within my own lifetime with the ubiquity of colour photography, and latterly the easy access to digital media.

The voiceover adds another level of anonymity because it's an actor's voice. I'm not clear whether the actual event would be "real people's" voices, breaking the expected confidentiality of talking to a companion in a crowd - that would be the real audio version of the camera obscura, but it has unsettling overtones of Big Brother.

So yes, this is liminality - a line is drawn between the observer and the observed. Maybe it's less a camera obscura, more a one-way mirror?

Techné being the greek word for craft and the etymological route for technology shows that there is an intrinsic link between the the idea of technology and craft. The use of process and procedures is a technology, in the same way that any cultural object can really be thought of as a technical object. So I completely agree but need to work out a better way of putting it. For this post I was splitting them up to sit better with a lay concept of gadgety, object technology. The blast theory technical systems are interesting in that, IMHO, much more happens in the bits that have not been paid so much attention to in previous documentation.
